Jon B. Chicago Concert reviews
Great once the concert actually started!
The Jon B. Christmas Concert was quite unusual. Traffic was a nightmare due to the reopening of the Saenger Theater following construction nearby. Finding parking was a challenge for those unfamiliar with the area. We arrived just in time for the 7:30pm concert after a rushed search for parking. The opening band, a good bluesy "New Orleans" group, had no Christmas theme. The atmosphere became increasingly odd as a children's marching band unexpectedly paraded through the theater playing a random tune. They were followed by Jon B. and a group of children, who provided information about his charity in a peculiar manner. The children then performed a skit about the Battle of New Orleans, leaving the audience bewildered. This unusual sequence lasted 35-40 minutes, followed by a confusing 15-minute break before Jon B. finally took the stage at around 8:30 pm. His Christ-centered concert showcased his incredible voice for nearly 2 hours. Despite the beautiful performance, the prolonged and strange pre-concert activities left many attendees puzzled and stressed.
